I often see it said the US is “built on genocide.” This of course serves the purpose of indicting certain people, but I am not a fan of saying this because the catchphrase focus on death erases Native American survival narratives. Those are more important than genocide narratives

We lost Al Franken and Katie Hill for reasons that should never have caused them to resign. Now we have Hawley, Cruz, Boebert, Brooks, just to name a few, who tried to end our democracy by canceling the votes of millions cause their guy lost. Where are their resignations?

I spent one year of primary education in a public school: kindergarten. My parents were/are far right wing culture warriors, coming through the JPUSA movement in the ‘70s and into the Calvary Chapel movement in the ‘80s as they got cozy with power during the Reagan administration

23 January 1908 | A Czech Jewish woman, Marta Bäumelova, was born in Prague.

She was deported to #Auschwitz from #Theresienstadt ghetto on 16 October 1944. She did not survive.

Few people know that Native Americans outside the South were forcibly removed. Instead, most just conflate all forced removals with the Cherokee Trail of Tears and Andrew Jackson. It didn’t stop there. It continued decades after the Civil War. All forced removals must be taught!

24 January 1943 | A French Jewish girl, Doris Mireille Lewy, was born in Toulouse.

She arrived at #Auschwitz on 1 May 1944 in a transport of 1,004 Jews deported from Drancy. She was among 865 of them murdered after selection in gas chambers.
